Honda Pioneer 1000 5 Deluxe
November 18th, 2015
With the Pioneer 1000 you get reliable power and performance with the 999cc twin-cylinder engine which utilizes the same Unicam cylinder head design found in Honda’s legendary motocross bikes. This class leading side by side features electronic fuel injection and the industry’s first 6 speed Dual Clutch Transmission. This unique feature allows you to choose between manual mode or fully automatic plus the addition of Sport Mode for a full performance driving experience. Honda also equipped this machine with steering column mounted paddle shifters so you can shift without ever taking your hands off the wheel. When driving in automatic mode this feature also allows you to override the current gear if necessary. The Pioneer 1000 is capable of tacking any big job with a 2000 pound towing capacity. This revolutionary machine handles tough terrain with high/low sub transmission, independent front and rear suspension, four wheel drive, and the option of electronic power steering (available on Pioneer 1000 5’s and Pioneer 1000 EPS). The Pioneer 1000 is capable of operating on sensitive surfaces when the driver selects Turf Mode making it the most well rounded side by side available. To top it all off the Pioneer 1000 is built right here in America at Honda’s plant in Timmonsville, South Carolina.
We are making deals here at Maxim Honda Yamaha on the Pioneer 1000 Deluxe come grab one before they are gone!

Sometimes we don’t want to wear a full leather racing suit to meet friends for dinner. We might rather wear soft jeans and a nice jacket! Instead of sacrificing protection to ride in comfort opt for something which is comfortable and offers high end protection such as Resurgence Gear. Resurgence Gear offers motorcycle jeans, jackets, and hoodies reinforced with Kevlar and the industry leading Knox armors for impact protection. Just like the jeans you can find in any department store Resurgence offers many different washes and styles to suit every rider. Their Rocker jacket features a soft hand cotton twill with a full silk inner liner. Of course, don’t be fooled by the comfort of this jacket as it is fully equipped with Knox CE flexiform shoulder and elbow liners and a CE back protector. For added protection this jacket also features Pekev lining patches on the elbows and shoulders for the best abrasion resistance. This gear is definitely a must have for any rider come by and check it out!
I was having breakfast last Sunday morning in a little cafe in Whitewright, Texas, that was spilling over with motorcycle riders. On the third Sunday of the month this little tiny cafe hosts an amazing number of riders. Even though most of them ride a, not very well known, brand of German motorcycle, it is a blast to rub elbows there. I struck up a conversation with my table mates who happen to be long distance riding buddies. They used the Scala Rider Multiset along with a GPS system when riding cross country. I knew that Maxim Honda Yamaha sold these but like most things, until you experience them you don’t know how useful they can really be.
The first thing they do before they ride is to call each other on their cell phones. This puts each number at the top of the GPS screen for easy access. The Scala takes care of bike to bike communications but if they become separated they can also contact each other by phone. They use the Scala to talk back and forth, arrange pit stops. listen to music and keep track of each other plus they can answer their cell phones while riding and wearing a helmet. It all interfaces with the GPS screen and the system is designed to be used with gloved hands. I had no idea how versatile this system really is until I listened to a couple of riding friends talking about how it had become a big part of their trip planning and riding enjoyment.
Getting out and hitting the road for extended rides are what motorcycles are all about. We are fortunate here in this part of Texas to have a number of different destinations from the Hill Country to the Ozarks within weekend striking distance. Going places on a motorcycle requires a bit of preparation and planning but it’s not too daunting. Motorcycles are considerably more reliable than they used to be and gone are the days when a full tool kit plus a change of fluids was a traveling necessity. There are a few items to check however.
First, Tires: a marginal tire around town is a bald tire after several hours on the road at speed. Good rubber is important for care free riding. Have a Maxim mechanic check your bike over. He is trained to spot problems before they become road side emergencies. Packing: At Maxim Honda Yamaha we have all kinds of luggage options to fit you and your choice of destination. From huge expandable tank bags that will swallow your whole wardrobe to saddlebags and convenient top boxes and bag liners. Maxim Honda Yamaha has luggage solutions to fit every rider and budget.
Plan Your Trip: Take a little time and research your destination. You don’t want to ride into the middle of a rally or wildflower festival and find that there is no room at the inn. Remember getting there is half the fun. The interstate may be the quickest but that state highway that looks like a squiggly line on the map, might just be more fun. Take your time, enjoy the ride, be safe and above all have fun.
I was bitten by the motorcycle bug in the 7th grade. I was sitting in my English class when a friend passed a booklet to me under the table. I would never be the same. It was the full Triumph model catalog for 1974. Each page folding out as a single 11” x 17” color image and each page displayed a picture, in full color, of one bike only. From the T150 Hurricane to the 500 cc Trophy Trail it was an exciting introduction into, what looked to me like, a world of pure adventure. From that time on I knew I had to have a motorcycle.
A school mate sold me a well used and broken Honda SL125 that he had ridden to death. I shelled out my entire college savings fund of $90 to purchase that bike. I also braved the wrath of my parents who saw in that bike the seeds of my destruction. I fixed that sad little motorcycle and learned a lot along the way. For the attention I gave it, I was paid back many times over. We lived several blocks from a power line easement that cut a path through North Dallas. It was a dirt bike highway allowing for miles of off road riding with only the occasional busy street to push across. It became my joy, my magic carpet and my ticket to adventure.
Many years and many bikes later I still get that feeling when I ride. I ride because I can’t imagine doing anything else.
